Black-Owned Accommodations

Accommodations in Fort Worth are plentiful, but when you’re looking for those locations owned by minority business people, it can get a little tricky. However, there are two notable options when visiting the historic city of Fort Worth, and we’ve summed up both for you below.

Fort Worth businessman and Black entrepreneurJonathan Morris had a vision when he first laid eyes on what was formerly a dry ice building: a boutique hotel that would provide both residents and visitors alike a new, hip experience many would not have expected to find in the Mid-Cities location. The first Black-owned boutique hotel in the area for over 100 years, Morris was aware of the cultural reputation his city had- namely, conservative and intolerant. His experience as a resident, however, was one of increasing diversity and acceptance. He sought to create accommodations that reflected the relaxed and casual energy he connected with Fort Worth, coupled with the Southern hospitality folks have come to expect when visiting the South.

Walking distance to the Dickie’s Arena, the hotel is located in the city’s cultural district. Guests will be in close proximity to a number of museums, restaurants, and shops. The hotel itself is a three story, 21-room hotel that includes a lobby bar open to the public as well as guests, and a large outdoor courtyard.

Morris has created a space that is both chic and approachable, having struck a balance between comfort and style. He made it clear that his goal was not to create a luxury experience. He sees the space as a place that welcomes, not only guests from out of town, but locals as well, promoting a community vibe. If you’re looking for the best of both worlds in your accommodations, Hotel Dryce can’t be beat. Its location is stellar for walking distance attractions, and the rooms are classy and comfortable.
